SOLAR RADIO BURST: Solar activity has been low for weeks. However,
there was a break in the quiet this weekend when new sunspot AR1667
unleashed a strong burst of shortwave radio static. The emissions were
so loud, they overwhelmed the sounds of terrestrial voice transmissions
in the loudspeakers of some shortwave radios on Earth. A recording of
the outburst is featured on today's edition of http://spaceweather.com

High Solar Activity Produces CMEs, Radio Bursts
Source - Space Weather News for July 5, 2012: http://spaceweather.com
HIGH SOLAR ACTIVITY: Sunspot AR1515 has grown into a behemoth more than 10 times wider than Earth. The active region is crackling with M-class solar flares and seems poised to produce even stronger X-flares in the days ahead. At least one CME is en route to Earth, and ham radio operators are reporting shortwave solar radio bursts roaring from the loudspeakers of their receivers. Stay tuned to http://spaceweather.com for more information and updates.

Big Sunspot Crackling with Flares and Radio Bursts
Source - Space Weather News for May 9, 2012: http://spaceweather.com
RADIO-ACTIVE SUNSPOT: Huge sunspot AR1476 is crackling with M-class solar flares and appears to be on the verge of producing something even stronger. The sunspot's 'beta-gamma-delta' magnetic field harbors energy for X-class flares, the most powerful kind. Radio operators are recording strong bursts of shortwave static from the sunspot as it turns toward Earth. Visit http://spaceweather.com for sample recordings and forecasts.
SUNSPOT TELESCOPE: AR1476 looks magnificent through a properly-filtered telescope. Solar Flares and Radio Bursts
Source - Space Weather News for June 12, 2010: http://spaceweather.com
ACTIVE SUNSPOT: A new sunspot has popped up and it is crackling with solar flares. Today, AR1081 has unleashed a series of M- and C-class eruptions plus at least one strong shortwave radio burst detected by amateur radio astronomers on the Pacific side of Earth. High resolution movies of the flares and an audio recording of the solar radio burst may be found at http://spaceweather.com.

'Radio-Active' Sunspot
Source - Space Weather News for March 29, 2010: http://spaceweather.com
"RADIO-ACTIVE" SUNSPOT: Over the weekend, big sunspot 1057 emitted a series of radio bursts that caused roaring sounds to issue from the loudspeakers of shortwave receivers. Visit today's edition of http://spaceweather.com to hear a sample "roar" and to find out how you can build your own solar radio burst monitor.
FIRST FULL MOON OF NORTHERN SPRING: According to folklore, tonight's full Moon has a special name--the Worm Moon. It signals the coming of northern spring, a thawing of the soil, and the first stirrings of earthworms in long-dormant gardens. Step outside tonight and behold the wakening landscape. "Worm moonlight" is prettier than it sounds.
SHUTTLE SIGHTINGS: Space shuttle Discovery is set to launch to the International Space Station on April 5th. During the 13-day mission, the two spaceships will make a series of bright flybys over North America. Check the Simple Satellite Tracker for viewing opportunities:
